The status on an event tells you whose turn it is. The names below are what you see in the list and on the event.
Open
The event has been logged and is still being recorded. Add what happened, who was involved, immediate action, and any documents you already have.
What you do next depends on the type:
External Contractor Visit — choose Submit for review when the visit record is complete. Missing fields are highlighted when you try.
Types with a guided investigation — choose Start investigation.
Incident, and accident-style events that offer a choice — Add investigation, or Skip investigation when an investigation is not required.
A low-severity Accident or Near Miss can offer Close event at this point, without a full investigation.
For an Alleged Allergen event, assign an Allergen Trained Person before you add the investigation. The page says Assign an Allergen Trained Person before adding investigation.
Triage
Triage is kept for older events that were marked triaged. New events usually move from Open into investigation or review instead. If you still see Re-open triage, that returns the triage step so it can be completed again.
Investigation
Someone is working through what happened: questions for that event type, evidence, and actions. When the investigation is ready, choose Submit for review. The button stays unavailable until the required investigation steps are done.
Under Review
A reviewer checks the record before it can close. They can confirm compliance, ask for a missing document, send the event back, or escalate it. See How to review and close an event.
Closed
The event has an outcome and a rationale. The record stays available. Evidence is read-only unless someone who can reopen uploads a new document — that upload reopens the event. A site manager or above can also choose Reopen event from the event actions menu, which returns it to Open.
Draft
Draft is a legacy status. If you still have one, Log event on that page moves it to Open.
