An event is a record of something that happened — an accident, a near miss, an allergen or foreign-body allegation, alleged food poisoning, a contractor visit, or another incident. Events give that record an owner, a status, and a trail of what was done about it.
Events appear only when incident management is enabled for your organisation.
Where to find them
Go to Events. The page title is Events, with the line Log and view incident events.
From there you can open:
Accident Book — employee accident records. See The Employee Accident Record Book.
Reporting — volumes, severity, and follow-up. See How to read event reporting.
Log event — record a new event. See How to log an event.
You can also start from Work using Add, then Log accident, Log near miss, or Log other event.
The list follows the site selected in the top bar. All sites shows events across the sites you can see.
What you can log
Log event lists the types enabled for your organisation. Typical types are:
Accident
Near Miss
Alleged Allergen
Alleged Foreign Body
Alleged Food Poisoning
Incident — pick a category such as Security & theft, Violence & harassment, or Other
External Contractor Visit
Accident, near miss, allegations, and Incident follow the incident path: record what happened, investigate when needed, then review and close. An External Contractor Visit is a shorter operational log: record the visit, then Submit for review.
The basic lifecycle
Someone logs the event. It opens as Open.
The owner records what happened, who was involved, and any immediate action.
Where an investigation is needed, they add one and attach documents. Some types can Skip investigation.
The event is submitted and moves to Under Review.
A reviewer confirms the record and chooses Close event, or sends it back with Return for more information.
Status names are explained in Event statuses explained. Closing is explained in How to review and close an event.
How events relate to actions
Work that still needs doing is raised as an action on the event. Those actions also appear under Work > Actions so they are visible, but you update them on the event itself. See Where actions come from and How to add actions, notes and documents to an event.
